Whether you are facing a personal storm or a dangerous hurricane, God promises to be with you today. He is close when life is calm, but He is also near in the storms. God promises never to leave us. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10-11 (NIV) When I am fearful, I actually envision the almighty God standing at my right hand. “With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken,” says the psalmist in Psalm 16:8 (NIV). The Lord is with you and me. “The Lord is with me. I will not be afraid.” Psalms 118:6 (NIV)
When the strong winds blow, remember God is over the storm. Your storm has not taken Him by surprise. I believe He is sovereign and I choose to trust His plan. Honestly, His plan has always been better than mine. “The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; He is enthroned as King forever. He gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” Psalms 29:10-11 (NIV)
Does this mean I am never afraid? Hardly! Honestly, I am somewhat fearful by nature. But when I remember God’s love for me; when I trust He is sovereign, I can rest in His will for my life. He loves me deeply. He has already proven his love through the ugly scars in His hands. I choose to rest in His love for me. How about you?
Be wise. Be smart. Be aware. Be careful. But be at peace. God is on your side.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:1-2 (NIV)
“And He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together. He will hold you together. He will keep you.” Colossians 1:17 (ESV)
Blessings my friends! Batten down the hatches and bless His name as we wait out the storm.
