Sometimes, life is stinking hard.
Often, you and I may be tempted to worry.
Perhaps, even today, in this very moment, you are filled with anxiety.
I get it. I.really. do.
But in the chaos, my God, My Abba Father, whispers, "Do not be anxious. You are safe with me."
Matthew 6:25 reads,
"Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?
Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value than they?
And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life? And why are ye anxious concerning raiment?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Be not therefore anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat or what shall we drink or, with what shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
I was reminded of this passage recently midst a hard but holy day. After a disappointing life experience, my man took me to visit MacLawLand Farms for a fun date night. We were given a pair of scissors and a jar to fill with flowers. Bright colors of yellow, deep reds, hot pink, burnt orange, and pale white danced in the wind. Large flowers, medium, and tiny dots of pop filled the way. We strolled through the paths, examining, admiring and adoring the beauty.
It was refreshing. I soaked in the beautiful of God's details in each flower.
The truth is that if my God created and decorated the flowers of the field with such exquisite detail and beauty, (and I believe he did) then why am I worried about the details of my life? You and I are worth so much more to Him than the daisies, sunflowers or lilies of the field that are here today and gone tomorrow. Yes, He is aware of my every need and ready to do even greater things in you and me.
"Do not be anxious. Since God doth clothed the grass of the field, shall he not much more clothe you."
No need to worry, my friend. Our God has got whatever concerns you under control. It is easy to say, but harder to live out. So do you, like me, need a reminder of this truth? Then may I suggest to look at the flowers -
Consider the lilies.
Connect to the Creator. Calm your anxious heart.
You can thank me later. :)
Beautifully written!!
A great reminder. The flowers are beautiful.
