Do you like to do hard things?
Believe it or not, I am determined to choose hard things. Not because I like hard, but because I want more.
More of the good and Godly.
More of the holy.
More of being all God has for me.
More of redeeming the time.
More opportunities to serve.
More opportunities to share. I want more, and doing hard things leads to more.
Because nothing happens without hard and holy discipline. The book will not get written. The house will not get clean. The Bible will not get read. The body will not grow strong. The friendships will not deepen. The skill will not be learned. The prayers will not have been spoken. The physical exercise will not be accomplished.
So friend, I am taking the road of hard. I am choosing today for tomorrow’s results. I am learning that I can choose the pain of a regimen or the pain of regret.
I can face discipline or face disappointment. Doing hard things will not be easy, but it will be so worth it. So let’s make a vow this new year of 2022.
Let’s choose to do hard things together. Then let’s do it again and again.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
And at the end of the year, you and I will have lost those unhealthy extra pounds, we will have read the Bible in its entirety, we will have a cleaner house, we will be stronger and more confident. We will love others more deeply. We will have a better prayer life. We will be powerful, loving, and full of self-discipline. “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
Sweet girl, choose hard things. Together we will become confident in Him and grow into something beautiful!
